Seifert's article touches on the rise of knee injuries over the past few seasons in the NFL. As concussions became the round-table discussion around the league with lawsuits and suicides, the NFL had to protect its brand and implement rules and concepts that would lower the amount of concussions. With new rules to decrease the amount of helmet-to-helmet collisions and therefore the amount of concussions, defensive players have resorted to hitting players low. Consequently, more players are coming up with torn ligaments and broken legs and the data shows that there's a steady increase in lower body injuries.
